Rental Terms

Rental properties are prioritised based on applicant category and need. The categories below define veteran and veteran family eligibility for RAAFVRT housing.

Veteran & Veteran Family Categories

Category Description
A Eligible persons as defined in the RAAFVRT Act — broadly, RAAF and RAAF Nursing Service veterans, a surviving spouse or de facto partner, and in certain circumstances a surviving parent of said veteran.
B Child of an eligible person (Category A) in necessitous circumstances.
C Former members of the Army and Navy (or surviving spouse) in necessitous circumstances.
D Former members of allied foreign Services (or surviving spouse), or child of Army, Navy and allied foreign Services members, in necessitous circumstances.

Tenancy Terms

  • Residents enter a Trust Licence (rental agreement) for a specified duration depending on their circumstances.
  • Rent charges (inclusive of Commonwealth Rent Assistance entitlement) are capped at 75% of market rent while residents meet Category A–D eligibility requirements.
  • Residents are responsible for utility expenses (electricity, water, and gas) if their unit is individually metered, and are encouraged to seek any eligible concessions with their utility service provider.
  • For units not individually metered, a subsidised proportion of actual utility costs is charged to tenants.
