Legal Framework & Accountability

The RAAF Veterans’ Residences Trust is a self-funded Australian Government entity created by the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Act 1953. The Trust is also subject to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

As such, the Trust is highly accountable to the Minister for Defence Personnel and Minister for Finance. The Trust is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and is a Deductible Gift Recipient.

Our Operating Model

The Trust manages a lean operating model to ensure maximum use of its financial resources in order to better provide its residents with high standards of affordable, long-term accommodation.

The Trust focuses on providing accommodation to Air Force veterans, but when there is no demand by them, veterans and their families of any Service origin may be accommodated.

Trust Leadership

Governance of the Trust is performed by five volunteer members of the Trust, supported by an independent Audit Committee. Management of Trust operations is performed by a salaried Manager and part-time Assistant Manager.
